Are you a Highly Qualified High School Math or Science teacher looking for a unique after school t-e-a-c-h-i-n-g opportunity?  In fact, you may be teaching the same content you taught earlier in the day. This part time opportunity will allow you to do what you do best  - teach…. motivating, inspiring, and encouraging students to strive for success. Touch the future by teaching after school classes between 4:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. two days a week or more.

What You’ll Do

  • Act as a brand ambassador committed to and promoting the vision and mission of Old Redford Academy
  • Join a team of urban educators who are committed and equipped to close the achievement gap
  • Create, monitor, and maintain a disciplined school and staff culture of high academic and behavioral standards
  • Differentiate instruction to address multiple learning styles and the mixed-abilities of scholars
  • Plan and implement the Academy’s rigorous college preparatory curriculum which is aligned with Common Core and the State of Michigan standards
  • Actively participate in targeted professional development and collaborative planning sessions
  • Be committed to continuously improving your instructional practices through coaching sessions, walkthroughs, data-driven reflection, and feedback
  • Have high expectations for learners, teaching them on grade level with the goal of their achieving mastery of the standards
  • Encourage scholars to become self-directed learners
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with the parents/guardians of scholars
  • Strengthen the passion and joy that led you into teaching


  • Bachelor’s Degree (Required)
  • Valid MDE teacher certification in the appropriate content area (Required)
  • Minimum of one year of teaching experience  (Preferred)


  • $38.00 an hour
