The  Dearborn Academy is seeking an Administrator for Curriculum and Instruction. The Administrator for Curriculum serves with the Principal to ensure the development, delivery and evaluation of curriculum and instruction practices and to ensure quality learning by all students on state standards and Academy learning goals. The Administrator for Curriculum and Instruction serves as a member of the administrative team.   Common Administrative Behaviors:   The Academy expects all administrators to exhibit knowledge, skill and competence regarding certain common administrative behaviors and position-specific administrative behaviors. Listed below are the 12 common administrative behaviors: Demonstrate knowledge, skill and competence regarding effective communication procedures and processes with all audiences affiliated with the Academy. Facilitate, collaboration and teamwork by all audiences to ensure quality learning results by all students. Practice strategic leadership of the Academy to ensure quality teaching and learning success.       Position-Specific Responsibilities: Direct, design, monitor and evaluate the curriculum to ensure alignment with State of Michigan requirements, vertical articulation of learning goals and horizontal grade level consistency. Supervise and evaluate teachers and other assigned support staff. Build the curricular and instructional budget and supervise the successful procurement of needed curricular and instructional resources. Collaborate with the Principal and other assistant administrators to develop an effective instructional calendar for the year, semester, quarter and day. Develop, monitor, implement and evaluate the results of a comprehensive assessment system for Academy students that are used to determine student achievement levels, areas of improvement, curricular and instructional changes and intervention strategies. Facilitate the development and implementation of effective intervention programs and strategies for fostering student academic success. Collaborate with the Principal, the administrative team and the professional staff in the design and implementation of Strategic Improvement Plans for the Academy. Routinely monitor and enforce the disciplinary code to ensure a safe, orderly environment for teaching and learning. Assist the Principal in the design and delivery of ongoing professional development for the staff. Develop effective oral and written communications for staff, the administrative team, the Principal, the President of AIMS, the Academy Board, the authorizing agency, State officials and parents regarding student academic progress at the Academy. Perform such other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Principal or the President of AIMS.  Qualifications: Michigan State School Administrator License Master’s degree in the area of leadership and/or curriculum and instruction. Except as otherwise provided by law, the Academy shall use certificated teachers according to state board rule. At least five years successful teaching and/or administrator experience and a background in administration. Ability to effectively interact and collaborate with professionals, parents and students. All administrators or other person whose primary responsibility is administering instructional programs or as a chief business official shall meet the certification and continuing education requirements as described in MCL 380.1246. The Dearborn Academy is seeking a  GSRP- Pre School Teacher is responsible for all aspects of planning, assessing and instructing four year old students, based on the needs of each child and the requirements of the GSRP grant. The GSRP Pre School Teacher is also responsible for maintaining program quality and documentation as outlined in the GSRP Implementation Manual, Preschool Program Quality Assessment (“PQA”) and the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (“DHHS”) licensing guidelines.   Position Specific Responsibilities:   Implement the assigned instructional activities and course of study to engage students in conductive learning. Utilize instructional and classroom management systems that increase student learning and maximize time on task. Identify, select and modify instructional resources to meet the needs of the students with varying backgrounds, learning styles and special needs. Monitor student progress towards achieving instructional objectives and goals. Follow the daily schedule as outlined in the curriculum and GSRP guidelines. Conduct screening and ongoing assessment of children and provide age-appropriate instructional support. Meet with Early Childhood Specialist as needed to ensure quality programming and maintain a high-level PQA rating. Attend staff meetings, workshops and other scheduled program activities as requested. Consider the GSRP Paraprofessional or Associate Teacher an essential member of the teaching team. Collaborate with the GSRP Paraprofessional or Associate Teacher in planning, team meetings, troubleshooting and decision-making. Empower the GSRP Paraprofessional or Associate Teacher to monitor behavior and support the educational process in the classroom. Participate in home visits with the GSRP Paraprofessional or Associate Teacher to partner with parents to meet the educational needs of their children. Organize and maintain records for grant and licensing purposes. Create and update anecdotal records and portfolios for each child. Communicate effectively within the educational community and with parents on a regular basis. Meet professional responsibilities. Maintain and upgrade professional skills. Promote and maintain positive Academy-staff and pupil-teacher-parent relationships. Adhere to the teacher code of conduct. Support and implement the discipline philosophy of the Academy, as well as disciplinary procedures designed for individual students. Report incidents (e.g. fights, suspected child abuse, suspected substance abuse) for the purpose of maintaining personal safety of students, providing a positive learning environment and adhering to the Code and administrative and/or Academy policies. Maintain confidentiality regarding students. Attend and participate in all required in-service training sessions and become familiar with the inclusion philosophy and procedures as outlined in AIMS’ policy. Ensure adherence to safety procedures. Complete required progress reports and other paperwork. Participate in Academy recruitment efforts, including open houses and round-ups and assist in student selection. Maintain inventory of classroom equipment, materials and supplies. Schedule parent/family activities. Develop newsletters and informational materials for families. Ability to work flexible hours as needed for family involvement activities, including home visits, recruitment events, open house, etc. Perform other duties as assigned.   Qualifications:   Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution. Shall possess a valid State of Michigan Teaching Certificate with the appropriate endorsement(s) for all subject area(s) being taught; Early Childhood (ZA or ZS) endorsement. Meet all requirements established by the DHHS. Teaching experience with children, particularly with at-risk children. Knowledge of the developmental needs of children and school improvement strategies is a definite plus. Training and experience with research-based preschool curricula with knowledge of early childhood. Knowledge of standards of Quality for Pre-K (ECSQ-PK). Relevant teaching experience. Knowledge of relevant technology. Ability to effectively interact with professionals, parents and students. Certification in CPR and First Aid. Knowledge of current research on early childhood literacy. Knowledge of the Preschool PQA and its relationship to quality experiences for young children. Skill in providing effective learning experiences that foster academic growth in a developmentally appropriate manner.
