FINANCIAL ANALYST Reports To: Chief Financial Officer (CFO) & Business Manager Indirectly Employed By: AES POSITION SUMMARY: The Financial Analyst shall assist the Chief Financial Officer in developing, recommending and administering approved programs for receipts, custody and disbursement of funds, payroll and debt services. It shall be the responsibility of the Financial Analyst to assist in implementing accounting, internal auditing and budgetary control procedures for the Academy and such other responsibilities as may be deemed necessary. School Specific Experience Required ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING: Assist in the development, documentation and implementation of approved financial processes, procedures and systems for the business office. Assist in financial record keeping in accordance with local, state and federal guidelines. Manage a system of approvals and oversight to ensure that accounts payable and purchasing documents are processed efficiently, accurately, and in a timely manner and that all purchases and/or disbursements adhere to approved policies and procedures. Maintains district records for purchasing. Manage a system of approvals and oversight for cash collections, including fundraising, to ensure compliance with approved policies and procedures and local/state/federal compliance requirements. Manage a system of approvals and oversight for the financial component of the food service program to ensure compliance with approved policies and procedures and local/state/federal compliance requirements. Manage a system of approvals and oversight for the GSRP program to ensure compliance with approved policies and procedures and local/state/federal compliance requirements. Codification of daily deposits and invoices/check requests for payment. Prepare periodic and special financial reports as required. Assist with processing payroll each pay period as well as any special payroll check runs in accordance with established policies and procedures. Assist in preparing salary and benefit projections as needed. Prepare financial reports for approved grants and process approved claims for reimbursement. Maintain physical inventories throughout the district including but not limited to all technology, supplies (instructional, janitorial, maintenance and/or security) in accordance with approved policies and procedures. Prepare journal entries for approval into the general ledger as may be required. Assist CFO with preparation of financial statements as may be required. Maintain fixed asset database. Create and maintain financial compliance calendar, including bond covenant items. Ensure financial compliance items are submitted to the proper authority timely. Prepare annual 1099 and related IRS reporting. Prepare and submit financial reports to ensure compliance with bond covenants. Assist in preparation of annual audit. Participates in professional organizations to gain knowledge and expertise. NON-CRITICAL COMPONENTS: Utilize cost effective practices at all times. Represent the Academy’s mission in an effective manner generating public support for the Academy’s program. Establish and promote cohesiveness among the staff members to work toward a common goal. Maintain respect at all times for confidential information. Responsible for punctual, regular and consistent attendance. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business preferred. Three (3) years accounting experience with at least one (1) year of school district accounting required. Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy. Demonstrated problem solving and decision making skills. Computer skills and/or experience required. Microsoft Word software knowledge (Word, Excel and PowerPoint). Working knowledge of standard office machines required. Organizational and planning skills. Verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills. Possession of the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the position. Criminal background check required.
