Old Redford Academy ASSISTANT BUILDING ADMINISTRATOR POSITION SUMMARY This position works under the direction of the Building Administrator and receives guidance from the Educational Coordinator and is tasked to carryout the mandates of the Instructional Program of Old Redford Academy. Critical Components Administrative and Management Assist with ensuring that school makes and maintains Adequate Yearly Progress ensuring practices that will meet academic goals (MME, MEAP, AYP and Education Yes) while maintaining State and/or NCA accreditation. Assist with assessing, monitoring and requesting all necessary instructional material for learning to take place (textbooks, supplemental materials, etc.). Verifying and ensuring all instructional materials are ordered, inventoried, received by the school and distributed to all necessary parties in a proper and timely manner. Assist with facilitating staff meetings. Ensure that Board Policies and directives are followed also ensure that staff is properly trained on Student Code of Conduct. Ensure that all teachers are providing adequate homework for students on a weekly basis. Ensure teacher lesson plans are reviewed and checked on a consistent basis to ensure students are receiving an adequate framework for their overall studies. Ensure that teachers are given a 10 minute camera observations prior to their actual observation. Effectively conduct six (6) classroom observations and evaluations on a weekly basis of instructional staff. Cooperatively and professionally perform any tasks that are assigned that will promote the Mission Statement of Old Redford Academy. Ensure that discipline packets are thoroughly completed in the absence of the Building Administrator. Ensure all publication/promotional documents are approved by the C.E.O., Educational Coordinator or designee prior to being processed. (i.e. Yearbook, invitations and field trips etc.). Ensure that the front cover of school year book is ORA’s standard and official logo. Utilize standard official letterhead for all letters and memorandums at all times. Thoroughly review written requests/ proposals prior to submitting to the Building Administrator. Maintain rapport with students, parents, subordinates and management. Assist with ensuring that school sponsored events/ programs are thoroughly and properly planned in advance. Notify all necessary departments of their responsibilities. Assist with maintaining proper leadership of all building communication. Attend Management and Board meetings. Effectively demonstrate knowledge and compliance with labor contract. Timely and accurate submission of all tasks and assignments. Respond to all levels of supervision. Has the responsibility as a manager to report any educational or safety issues to the appropriate party for resolution and if resolution does not occur responsible for making situation or problem known to a higher level of management or supervision. Failure to do so could resort in disciplinary actions. Discipline Responsibilities Grant detentions and suspensions as well as make recommendations for long-term suspensions and expulsions. Assist with ensuring all discipline data is entered in Skyward accurately and in a timely manner. Technology Oversee Skyward, Study Island, Ed Performance and/or any other computer supplemental program. Ensure teachers are integrating technology into the classrooms . Other Duties as Assigned Leadership: Acts as Building Administrator (BA) in the absence of the BA. Acts as Advisor to BA in the selection, supervision, and evaluation of school personnel. Represent the mission of Old Redford Academy in an effective manner generating public support for the school’s program. Serve as a role model for the moral and ethical growth and socialization of the children. Develop new ideas that promote and foster the student’s character. Establish and promote cohesiveness among the staff members to work toward a common goal. Encourage the leadership of others. Must maintain professional appearance and personal conduct at all times. Demonstrate clear, concise, correct communication both written and oral. Report to work on time daily. Work in close coordination with the Educational Coordinator and Building Administrator. Must maintain professional conduct and appearance at all times. Responsible for punctual, regular and consistent attendance. Qualifications Bachelor/Master Degree School Administrative Certification Required 5-10 Years Classroom Teaching Experience Management/Leadership Skills Bachelor/Master's Degree in Education. Completed administration certification with considerable years of teaching experience and an endorsement in Administration and Supervision, K-12 required. A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
